Alloy 20 Stainless Steel Forging Temperature

The forging temperature range for Alloy 20 Stainless Steel is around 2100°F to 2300°F (1149°C to 1260°C). It is important to heat the material uniformly and avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures to prevent grain growth and brittleness.

Alloy 20 Stainless Steel Heat Treatment

Alloy 20 Stainless Steel Annealing Temperature

Annealing of Alloy 20 Stainless Steel is typically performed at temperatures between 1750°F to 1850°F (954°C to 1010°C) for a sufficient amount of time, followed by slow cooling in the furnace to relieve stresses and improve mechanical properties.

Alloy 20 Stainless Steel Normalizing Temperature

Normalizing can be carried out at 1850°F to 2050°F (1010°C to 1121°C) with a suitable soak time, followed by air cooling or furnace cooling. This process helps refine the microstructure and enhance the material's strength and toughness.

However, post-weld heat treatment is advisable to maintain corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
